Oficina Monstros is a furniture restoration and upcycling workshop in Ajuda, Lisbon, founded by Guida Costa Santos. The studio specialises in rescuing abandoned furniture and transforming old pieces into unique, colourful objects using traditional manual techniques. Participants in the weekend workshops bring their own furniture and learn the complete restoration process from diagnosis to finishing, including wood treatment, structural repairs, surface preparation, and creative painting techniques. The name refers to the Portuguese term for bulky waste items left on the street. The studio also runs Ripas, a free community workshop programme in partnership with Lisbon City Council, recovering furniture collected by municipal services. Services include professional restoration and custom painting commissions.
