Quinta dos Caniços is a unique arts and nature space located in Tires, Cascais, established in 2023. Set within a privileged natural environment featuring an orchard, vegetable garden, stream, and chicken coop, this quinta (farm estate) combines artistic creation with nature education. The space hosts ceramics workshops and ateliers led by artist Ju Reino da Costa, who trained at CENCAL (the Professional Training Centre for the Ceramic Industry in Caldas da Rainha) and has exhibited across multiple galleries in Lisbon and Cascais. Ceramics offerings include regular Tuesday ateliers (morning or afternoon), Christmas ceramics workshops for families (ages 6+), and wheel-throwing and modelling workshops. Participants learn various techniques including hand-building and kiln firing, with all materials included. Beyond ceramics, the Quinta offers nature-focused programmes including the "Art and Nature Workshop" led by sculptor Leonor Pêgo, where children explore outdoor activities, natural materials, land art, and traditional crafts like weaving and natural pigments. The space also features an art gallery with rotating exhibitions and accepts group bookings for customized workshops. Activities take place outdoors whenever weather permits, embracing a philosophy of connecting with nature in all seasons.
